Even Blizzard is catching the nontraditional gamer bug, and Wilson stated that being approachable was another key element that the company. "If you're able click with an object with a mouse, then you can play Diablo," mused Wilson, saying in manner not long to become a cliche even his wife who was not a gamer enjoyed the Diablo experience.

The lead designer for the game also highlighted it's "simple to master, but difficult to master" gameplay, which is an underlying principle of the series, as well as the necessity of a well-constructed learning curve. "In diablo's standard mode it was actually a fairly simple game," the lead designer explained.

Wilson also said that Blizzard is currently working on the new version of Battle to allow for cooperative play. "We would like to break down all barriers for players to play and connect with one another," he said.

Reverting to Diablo's tried-and true gameplay, Wilson said that the game's action elements were thoroughly scrutinized. One of the most significant modifications made to the game to enhance the game's gameplay was to eliminate the need for potions as the primary health mechanic.

To ensure that players are not dependent on health potion, Wilson said that defeated monsters will now drop the globes that contain health. This technique is also meant to keep players involved in the fight thus there would be minimal or no interruption between fights.
